Today marks the 40th Anniversary of the 1973 court case Roe v. Wade which legalized the aborting of babies in the United States. Since that time we have seen a strong right to life stance by many Americans. Millions have been involved in marches on our nation’s capital, rallies at abortion centers, and petitions to government leaders; however, all of this has been to no avail. 40 years after this tragic event that is Roe v. Wade we have seen over 55 million Americans murdered, before they even had a chance at life. With just over 315 million people in America that is approximately 1 abortion for every 6 Americans. The statistics are hard to comprehend.
The thing that continues to stump me is the fact that many Americans view this as a political issue, and they refer to abortion in the same sentence as taxes and jobs. The day we decided that the murder of innocent babies is a political issue is the day we as society took one giant leap away from Godly principles, and we have continued to walk away since that day 40 years ago. The 6th commandment says thou shalt not kill, and that is not to be debated. It truly is time for congressmen to put forward legislation that will remove this unconstitutional law. 40 years is far too long, must we bear even 1 more day of this disgusting law? I guess the better question is can we as a Christian nation survive 1 more day while refusing these innocent children the same right?
